Fate/Zero is a novel written by Gen Urobuchi as a prequel to Fate/stay night, with illustrations by Takashi Takeuchi. The project was supervised by Kinoko Nasu, who looked over the draft for the new characters and the plot. The first volume was released on December 12, 2006, and is a collaboration between TYPE-MOON and fellow developer Nitro+. From 2011 to 2012, an anime adaption of the series was produced by ufotable.
